We are wednesday, February 15, and, as a promise is a promise, we are going to unveil what we have planned in 2017 for March of History!
There will be three different kinds of things: new features, rules improvements and bugfixes, so let's see the list of things we've planned for 2017.
This isn't a complete schedule yet, but we will announce the various due dates of this plan as we go along!
I. New features
II. Improvements of rules and game mechanics
III. Bugfixes
I. New features
A. Private Games
A subscriber will be able to create a private game in which he can choose which players he'll invite. A player with no subscription can of course be invited in a private game. In order to enter a private game, its creator will have to invite you.
Private games will use 50 players map, so free slots will be assigned to the AI.
The creator of the game will be able to modify its speed and can pause it whenever he likes. This way, it'll be simple to customize the pace of a game with your friends at your leisure.
There will be no referee in a private game, so the players will be able to create their own rules if they want!
B. Checking multiaccounts by using text messages
It will now be required, in order to join some games (this will be specified in the game description) to validate your March of History account by using a text message, in order to ensure that the player is only using one account.
A phone number can only be used for one account, and Celsius Online will not use this number for anything else (except for the text messages informing subscribers about their games and which will still be only for the subscribers).
There will still be games where validating an account will not be necessary, so that the players who do not own a cellphone can still play, but there will be no guarantee in these games that multiaccounts won't exist.
II. Improvements of rules and game mechanics
While wishing you a happy new year in Celsius Online's latest blog entry [http://www.celsius-o...oeux-pour-2017/], we've spoken a bit about our work at the end of 2016: there were a lot of exchanges between the designers of the game and the referees by analyzing various player reports about what could be improved in the rules and mechanics of the game.
This work was complex, as March of History is a highly sophisticated strategy game where a minor change can impact a lot of other aspects in the game.
And for each situation that could be improved, we had to think of a solution that would be as simple as possible and would not have any negative repercussions in another area of the game, so there were a lot of thinking and exchanges about it those last months, and we'd like to thank again the players and the referees who helped us in successfully completing this task!
1. The treasury of a family will now take into account all the personal money of all the members of the family, and not only the ones who have been activated anymore.
The management of the family could sometimes be tiresome, this change will allow the players to avoid to have to use methods which were not fun to manage it.
2. Allow wars to continue even if the alliances have changed
At the moment, the inheritance of the vassal title of an enemy would make most of the actions linked to war impossible. This will not be the case anymore and a war can only end with a peace treaty in due form.
3. Giving a title can be done only if the family giving the title owns the liege title and the vassal titles.
There were many abusive ways to manipulate the alliance relationships of other players in convoluted ways. This new rule will help prevent creating new feudal bonds between various players as a side effect. This will of course not change the clauses of treaties of reconquest or betrayal.
4. Prevent any change (donation/feudal bond/liege) on a title which is part of a war goal
The liege lord/vassal of a title will not change and the title cannot be given if it is part of a war goal.
5. If a player owns a city de jure, but that it is controlled de facto by someone who is not an enemy, he automatically gets the de facto control.
No more city stolen by someone else.
6. Allow neutral units to stack on naval passages (and only on those ones)
It won't be possible to unfairly block those strategic points anymore.
7. Allow an army to cross a border from a square which does not belong to it, toward a neutral square, if and only if it's the fastest way to go back to its territory.
Your armies will not be "blocked" anymore between three "neutral" provinces at the end of a war.
8. It will be possible to join a war even if it means you join a second war against the same enemy.
Multiple wars to try and split players should not be that much of a problem anymore.
9. It won't be possible for the attacker anymore to end a war less than 2 years after it's been declared, which will give enough time to the defender to choose his war goals and to his liege lord to come to his help.
It won't be possible anymore to declare a war and immediately end it to avoid a more dangerous war.
10. Giving money to another family won't allow to reduce the treasury under X gold coins anymore (it will be impossible to sign the treaty in that case) except if it's a Surrender treaty.
It will be much harder to avoid paying clauses about money of surrender treaties.
11. Forbid giving towns which are at war
It won't be possible to exchange cities in a state of war anymore, which was used to unfairly protect some towns.
12. Kicking inactive players
Automatically Kicking inactive players will be back as soon as the bug where players who just left the Holiday mode were kicked too is fixed.
III. Bugfixes
This year, we'll prioritize fixing the following bugs (that have been reported in the Bugs & Questions Forum > I want to report a bug: http://www.marchofhi...ugs-questions/)
- The AI of inactive players will also sign non-automatic peace treaties
- Betrayal war goals declared by the defender were not taken into account
- A liege lord declaring that a vassal is treacherous cannot declare war to him if the vassal also has another vassal title which is not treacherous
- Bug using we won't reveal ahaha
- An unsupplied army which is looting can still keep a low strength
- A garrisoned army is still supplied by other cities during a siege
- A war of betrayal on a prestigious title does not include giving the title
- Impossible to keep playing if a player has been partly eliminated
- Could not start a treaty of surrender if a title which is one of the war goals is not owned anymore
- Disconnection issues (seems that it is not as much a problem as before though)
- Unplayable families could be chosen when joining a game (families where all that was left were sterile old men)
- Local nobility still has 20 years displayed while the age of the character should be displayed
So, here's what's planned for 2017, we'll give you the due dates as we go, in the meantime, have a good week and have fun!
