BMW servicing should be of paramount significance. That at least is the line spun by the mighty marketing machine of the German giant. However, you have to ask your self one essential question: should I trust them? May I not be able to find a much better deal with my local garage.

First of all let's look at the reasons for suspicion. Anytime you're becoming advised to stick with BMW servicing, the person performing the telling is almost always a salesman. Should you trust the worlds of a sales person? Does Satan skate to work? No, of course you should not. They are interested in maximising aftersales worth and making sure you stick with them is the very best way to do it.

However, just because he's biased does not mean he's not telling the truth. As anybody who has used a car mechanic can tell you, it is a continuous lottery. Whilst there are many who provide a decent and accountable service - who will not charge you unnecessarily - there are other people who will.

To illustrate let's use this instance. For a few years I've been driving my dependable used Bimmer. It hardly runs smoothly, but then again it is almost as old as I am, which is a considerable statement. So when I took it for its regular MOT I barely raised an eyebrow when it clocked up a hefty charge in servicing.

Then one day I took it to a local council. They don't obtain a penny from any repairs and so have no incentive to find faults other than to quit me ploughing off the road and into a group of pedestrians. The bill when I used them?

Nothing, not a jot. It just goes to show. Even seemingly reputable mechangics are not averse to pulling the odd quick one.

To further market the idea of BMW Servicing, you can opt for the Service Inclusive option. For an upfront fee you cover the costs of servicing for the first 5 years or 60,000 miles (whichever comes sooner). On the one hand this is a cost which you might not require. However, at least you know the full price in advance. There will be no unpleasant surprises.

Equally as important. Utilizing official dealers means all parts will be genuine BMW and you will get a full service history. All that means great things for resale worth later on. So, to sum up, is it worth sticking with BMW servicing? Yes - absolutely.
