Proclamation of the Magna Carta Libertatum

 

Before voting a new King, all Lords of the new Kingdom of England have agreed to establish and uphold some basic principles, which shall further guarantee the Rights of Lords, and the peace and prosperity of the Kingdom of England.

 

In his speech to Parliament, the King elect proposed to authorize a draft of a series of legal documents, which should be later discussed by all Lords and Magnates of the Realm in Parliament in length. These series shall be known as the Magna Carta Libertatum, and be based on the following principles: 

 

1. All English Lords within and connected to the Kingdom of England are equal
2. Together they form the "Parliament", and only Parliament can decide common matters
3. Parliament will decide by majority of votes, especially in questions of war and peace, and does create the Laws of the Land
4. The King is the acting Speaker of Parliament, and has to facilitate the operations of Parliament
5. The King guarantees all titles and land, which are hold by the Lords in accordance with Parliament. Land lost to the crown will be given back to the rightful owner, if not otherwise agreed upon by Parliament or by treaty
6. The Acts of the King should always be in accordance with the Parliament, or according to the Laws of the Land
7. The King has certain rights, to act in cases of emergency before, or even when Parliament has no time to vote, and to negotiate with foreign Lords
8. Parliament will also elect and control further offices, in order to help the King organizing matters of the Realm
9. The King is the arbiter for any case of quarrel between single Lords
