So after playing the game for a couple of days I can only see a couple of areas where you can attampt to grow your popultaion.  The reason I am looking to do this is to get more workers, more army and generally more money to spend else where.

The granary is the obvious choice, but this only has a chance of a 0.5% increase per 50 food distributed. Is this correct.....or are we destined to have an area of only 3000 population for ever.......or have I missed something blanantly obvious somewhere...?

The help tip is wrong it's .2%.  At the beginning the granary is the only way, it gives you .6% per year.  As you progress there are technologies offering an additional .15% of population growth.  In 2 irl months (60 game years) you can probably reach 4000-4500 population depending on your armies

Just to follow up a bit. A population increase of 0.6% (from all 3 food distributions per year) means that in 10 years your population would grow from 3000 to 3185. I'm new, but it seems to me that 10% of your peasants are available as labor (300 of 3000 total population). So it seems that in 10 years (real-life days), you would go from 300 workers to 318 workers. For those that are experienced with the game, does this look right?

I have noticed however that the food you add in to get the additional increase of 0.2% slowly decreases as time passes.  Basically once it drops down, you can add in more food to get the 0.2% increase again, toa maximum of 0.6%.

Please correct me if this is a bug, but I doubt it, and therefore presume the highest % increase for the granary is 0.6%.

I noticed something different from what you noticed, Regnavats. What I saw is the population bonus drop in 0.20% chunks. I think what happens is that each 0.20% bonus from distributing food is good for one full year. When it expires the following year, the bonus disappears. Each 0.2% from food distribution is tracked separately. Is that what you notice?

That is correct.

+ the bonus is smaller when your population is big enough (if i remember correctly)

+ the cost of distributing food increases with your population
